We’re excited to welcome Rob Kaufman to the new role of Technical Coordinator for the Hyrax and Hyku platforms. This role provides essential technical leadership and coordination at a moment when many institutions are facing funding constraints, and reliance on Hyrax and Hyku infrastructure continues to grow.

The Samvera Community is pleased to announce Christine Peterson Consulting as its newest Samvera Service Provider Partner, strengthening the community’s collaborative network of libraries, service providers, and technologists dedicated to open source repository solutions.

The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) and the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) are pleased to announce a new partnership with Invest in Open Infrastructure (IOI) to strengthen the long-term sustainability of Hyku, the open-source digital repository platform. Through this project, the Hyku for Consortia team—along with key stakeholders in the Samvera Hyku Community and IOI—will support the development of a co-investment and community decision-making model designed to ensure the Hyku platform remains robust, community-driven, and financially sustainable.

On behalf of the Selection Committee, it is my great pleasure to announce that the recipient of the 2025 Julie Allinson Award is LaRita Robinson, Senior Software Engineer at Notch8. LaRita was nominated by Hyku Technical Lead Rob Kaufman, Shana Moore from Notch8, and Nick Steinwachs from Notch8.

Samvera Connect 2025 is now a free, online conference, October 28th - 30th

The Samvera Community is pleased to announce that Amigos Library Services (Amigos) has joined as our newest Service Provider Partner, reinforcing their commitment to the continued growth and sustainability of Samvera’s open-source solutions.

The full program for Samvera Connect 2025 is now live! Join us in Mexico City this October for four days of learning, sharing, and connecting with the Samvera community.

The Samvera Connect 2025 Program Committee has extended the deadline for our Call for Proposals for presentations, panels, lightning talks, and posters to July 28th. This year’s conference will be held in person from October 20–23, 2025, in Mexico City.

The Documentation Interest Group invites you to participate in the ​"Doc Days of Summer​," a series of one-day virtual sprints focused on improving our community documentation! We’re excited to invite you to Samvera’s upcoming Community Sprints this May! These virtual sprints bring people together to enhance code and documentation. Whether you're a developer, metadata specialist, repository administrator, or in any other role, there’s a place for you to contribute.

The Sustaining the Hyku Repository Platform Steering Group—a collaborative effort led by the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) and the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration & Innovation (PALCI) in partnership with the Samvera Community—is excited to announce grant support for two recently defined Hyku community positions.

We are pleased to open the Call for Proposals for Samvera Virtual Connect 2025!  

The Samvera Board of Directors, in partnership with the Sustaining Hyku IMLS grant, is seeking a Request for Information from institutions, organizations, and service providers for a developer training program for Hyrax and Hyku development. Both the Samvera Board and the Hyku grant have funds earmarked for a developer training opportunity in 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developer to gain valuable experience in community leadership, technical decision-making, and open-source contribution, all with the support of a skilled and collaborative team.

The Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) and the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) are proud to announce the successful transition of Hyku for Consortia from pilot phase to full production—now serving 40 libraries across four prominent partners in the Hyku Commons: PALCI, PALNI, the Boston Library Consortium (BLC), and the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA).
